Minitrekking: Perito Moreno Glacier Ice Trek

with pick-up in El Calafate. During the drive to Los Glaciares National Park, our guides share details about the region and the Perito Moreno Glacier. Upon arriving After disembarking, our mountain guides welcome the group and lead you to a small shelter overlooking the ice. The trek starts along the lakeshore, where you may spot ice calvings while learning basic glaciology concepts. At the glacier’s edge, participants are divided into groups of up to 20 to receive crampons and helmets. The outing is highly personalized, with one guide for every 10 guests.

Once on the ice, you’ll receive safety instructions before exploring this frozen world. The hike is of moderate difficulty: the terrain is uneven but stable, allowing you to see crevasses, moulins, seracs, and bright blue ponds. After the ice walk, the route continues along the moraine and through the Patagonian forest, completing about three hours of hiking in total (approximately one hour on the glacier). Back at the shelter, hot drinks are served before boarding the boat to return to the port.

The full excursion lasts around 10 hours, including transfers and a one-hour guided visit to the glacier’s walkways. Guests arriving independently complete a circuit of about four and a half hours from the port. Weather conditions vary daily, but the tour only cancels if safety cannot be guaranteed. If traveling with companions, let us know in advance so we can place you on the same departure.
