Torres del Paine National Park is located in southern Chile, in the Patagonia region, about 112 km (70 miles) north of Puerto Natales. The park is part of the Magallanes Region and sits just east of the Andes, close to the border with Argentina.

The most common way to reach Torres del Paine is by flying to Punta Arenas in Chile and then traveling about 3 hours by bus or private transfer to Puerto Natales, the main gateway to the park. From Puerto Natales, buses and private transfers reach the park entrance in about 2 hours.

The best time to visit Torres del Paine is between October and April, during Patagonia’s spring and summer months. This period offers longer daylight hours, milder temperatures, and better conditions for hiking and wildlife viewing. December through February is the warmest and most popular time to visit.

Most travelers spend 3 to 5 days in Torres del Paine to explore the main viewpoints and hiking trails. However, hikers doing the famous W Trek usually need 4–5 days, while the full O Circuit trek typically requires 7–8 days.

Yes. During the high season (November–March), it is highly recommended to book park tickets, refugios, campsites, and lodges well in advance, sometimes several months ahead, especially if you plan to hike the W Trek or O Circuit.

Patagonian weather can change quickly, so it’s important to pack: Waterproof jacket and pants, Warm layers, Hiking boots, Windproof clothing, Sunscreen and sunglasses, daypack and reusable water bottle. Layering is key because conditions can shift from sunshine to strong wind or rain within hours.
