Mendoza Wine Country: Private Honeymoon Tour

Mendoza Wine Country: Private Honeymoon Tour

Argentina
9 Days

Overview

The Uco Valley delivers a completely different Mendoza than what most visitors see: vineyards at 1,100 meters with Andean snowpack visible from the breakfast table, boutique lodges where the winemaker is also the host, and a combination of wine, landscape, and altitude that no other Argentine wine region replicates. This 9-day private Mendoza honeymoon itinerary moves between three of the valley's most distinctive properties — Casa de Uco, The Vines Resort & Spa, and Cavas Wine Lodge — with private transfers coordinated between each, and a curated sequence of experiences that goes well beyond standard winery visits: a mountain sunrise on horseback, a personalized wine blending session with a head winemaker, dinner at Francis Mallmann's Siete Fuegos, and a morning above the vineyards in a hot air balloon over the Andes.

.

  • •       Three Distinctive Properties, One Seamless Route: Casa de Uco's vineyard landscape, The Vines' winemaker-focused program, and Cavas' more intimate Luján de Cuyo character — each covers a different facet of Mendoza's wine country, sequenced so the experience builds rather than repeats.

.

  • •       Francis Mallmann's Siete Fuegos Dinner: One of Argentina's most acclaimed dining experiences, available exclusively to guests at The Vines Resort — an evening of open-fire cooking that pairs Andes landscape with Argentina's finest boutique wines.

.

  • •       Aconcagua Provincial Park Hike: A private guided walk into the base area of the Americas' highest peak — no technical mountaineering required, just the trail into the Horcones valley with the full scale of the mountain visible throughout.

.

  • •       Private Transfers Between Properties: Move effortlessly between Mendoza's leading wine lodges with dedicated private transfers, allowing you to enjoy the changing landscapes and exclusive experiences without worrying about logistics, driving, or luggage.

.

  • •       Fully Customizable: This private Mendoza honeymoon itinerary extends naturally into Buenos Aires for city culture, Patagonia for contrast, or Iguazú Falls for a tropical close to the journey.

Itinerary

Day 1

A private transfer from Mendoza Airport (MDZ) to Casa de Uco in the Uco Valley. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the property at your own pace — mountain bikes are available to ride through the vineyards, with the Andes visible from the estate.

Day 2

A guided tour through Casa de Uco's vineyards with local specialists, covering the harvest process with an optional hands-on grape-picking experience. The tour continues to the bodega for traditional grape-stomping, followed by a full wine-and-cheese pairing of Casa de Uco's portfolio, closing with regional empanadas and Malbec.

Day 3

An early departure by 4x4 into the Andean foothills, continuing on horseback to a mountain summit for a breakfast as the sun rises over the Uco Valley. In the afternoon, an outdoor cooking class using seasonal ingredients from the hotel's garden, preparing each dish over open fire — the oldest cooking method in the region — paired with Casa de Uco's wines.

Day 4

A private transfer to The Vines Resort & Spa. The afternoon is free for the property's spa. In the evening, dinner at Siete Fuegos — Francis Mallmann's restaurant at The Vines, known for seven open-fire cooking techniques inspired by gaucho traditions, using seasonal ingredients from the hotel's gardens and paired with boutique Argentine wines.

Day 5

A private blending session with The Vines' head winemaker — tasting individual varietals, understanding how elevation and soil affect each one, and composing your own Uco Valley blend. The session produces a labeled bottle you take home.

Day 6

A private transfer to Cavas Wine Lodge in Luján de Cuyo. The afternoon is a horseback ride through the Andean foothills to a traditional Argentine estancia, followed by a lamb asado with wines from the region.

Day 7

A private drive to Aconcagua Provincial Park — Mount Aconcagua at 6,960 meters is the highest peak outside the Himalayan system. The hike enters the Quebrada de Horcones, following the trail toward Laguna Horcones and continuing into Quebrada del Durazno, with the full scale of Aconcagua visible throughout. The landscape shifts from scrub steppe to high-altitude rock and ice formations; condors are commonly seen along the valley.

Day 8

A pre-dawn departure for a hot air balloon flight over the Uco Valley, with the Andes as the backdrop and vineyard rows visible below at first light. The flight duration is approximately one hour, landing in the vineyard zone before a champagne breakfast.

Day 9

A private transfer to Mendoza Airport (MDZ) for your domestic flight to Buenos Aires and onward international connections.

Southwind from the planning stages to delivery of the trip in Patagonia were faultless and I really love the little reminders sent for each separate stage and really appreciated the added bits around passport checking and border crossing paperwork. The whole team was super friendly, and for our trip with Fernando he was great company and knew where to stop for refreshments and a view! We would strongly recommend southwind, they go the extra mile on service and have a permanent smile. Thank you guys you were faultless.

I had a great experience with Southwind. They organized a tour for us to visit Monte Leon from El Calafate. Fernando & Laura organized the logistics and were very helpful. Martin accompanied us on the tour and doubled up as driver and tour guide, which was beyond our expectations. We saw a lot of wildlife en route, as well as in the park with Martin’s help. I highly recommend Southwind for your Patagonia experience.

Maria and her team looked after us so well. I would recommend them in a flash. It was 20 years since I had been to El Calafate so I didn't know what to expect. It had changed so much! Maria was helpful, honest, well priced and a pleasure to work with. You could not ask for more. We had the best time thanks to Maria and her organisation. Fernando was our driver to a tour and a delight. Punctual, knowledgeable and all round wonderful. Gracias!!

How to Customize This Itinerary

This itinerary is a foundation, not a fixed template — we shape it around what draws you to Argentina in the first place.

.

  • Add Buenos Aires for tango, a culinary tour through Palermo or San Telmo, and the city's historic neighborhoods.

  • Extend to Iguazú Falls for the subtropical rainforest and both sides of the falls.

  • Add extra days in the Uco Valley with additional winery visits, cycling, or white-water rafting on the Mendoza River.

  • Continue to Patagonia for a full Argentina circuit combining wine country with glacier and mountain landscapes.

.

Every adjustment is shaped around what the trip means to you, then re-engineered with the same private logistics as the original route.
