Mendoza: Wine Country & Aconcagua Private Adventure Tour

Mendoza: Wine Country & Aconcagua Private Adventure Tour

Argentina
6 Days

Overview

This 6-day private Mendoza wine and adventure itinerary alternates active outdoor days with the Uco Valley's best producers — biking through Luján de Cuyo vineyards, riding horseback through the Quebrada del Cóndor at 2,400 meters in the Andean foothills, a full Uco Valley wine day at Salentein, Domaine Bousquet, and Andeluna Cellars, and a river rafting day on the Mendoza River at Potrerillos. Mendoza is one of the few places in the world where you can taste world-class Malbec and then spend the afternoon at altitude in the Andes — this itinerary makes that combination explicit rather than treating wine and activity as separate programs.

.

  • Luján de Cuyo by Bike — Two Bodegas, One Vineyard Lunch: The cycling route through Luján de Cuyo keeps pace with the terrain rather than a clock — enough time at Vistalba and Nieto Senetiner to taste across the range, not just the two wines on a standard tasting menu.

  • Quebrada del Cóndor Horseback Ride — Full Day at Altitude: The route ascends from 2,400 to 2,800 meters through the Cordón del Plata foothills, following ancient paths visible from the viewpoint at the top. This is the most physically demanding day of the itinerary — and the one with the widest open landscape of all five active days.

  • Mendoza River Rafting at Potrerillos: The river run at Potrerillos is 45 km west of Mendoza city, past the reservoir where the valley walls close in and the rapids build. It's the right close to an itinerary that started in vineyards and moved steadily into the mountains.

  • Fully Customizable: This private Mendoza wine and adventure tour extends naturally into Buenos Aires, Patagonia, or Iguazú Falls for travelers building a broader private Argentina circuit.

Itinerary

Day 1

A private transfer from Mendoza Airport (MDZ) to your hotel. Mendoza city sits at the foot of the Andes at 760 meters, with Aconcagua (6,962m) visible on clear days from the city center. The rest of the afternoon is free for a walk through the tree-lined streets, the Central Market, or a first glass of regional Malbec.

Day 2

A bike day through the Luján de Cuyo region — the historic Malbec heartland with flat vineyard roads ideal for cycling. Two winery stops: Bodega Vistalba, owned by Carlos Pulenta, with the Tomero and Vistalba ranges; and Nieto Senetiner, a historic estate founded by Italian immigrants in 1888, with the Nieto Senetiner and Don Nicanor lines. A gourmet three-course lunch in the vineyard with Luján Malbec pairings.

Day 3

A 4x4 drive to the Uco Valley foothills and the Quebrada del Cóndor — at 2,400 meters in the Andes, the trail follows ancient paths through the dramatic valley. Condors circle above; llamas, Andean foxes, and hares are regular trail companions. A 2,800-meter viewpoint over the Potrerillos Valley and the Cordón del Plata ridge is the lunch stop, where a traditional asado is prepared on-site.

Day 4

A high-altitude wine day in the Uco Valley — vineyards between 1,000 and 1,500 meters with Andean snowpack visible from the rows. Three producers: Salentein (European-designed cathedral winery with old-vine varietals), Domaine Bousquet (Argentina's largest certified organic wine producer), and Andeluna Cellars (at the foot of Volcán Tupungato) for a gourmet lunch paired with award-winning Uco Valley wines.

Day 5

A drive west to Potrerillos, a mountain village surrounded by the Andes and its reservoir. A rafting descent of the Mendoza River on Class II–III rapids — the river's turquoise color comes from Andean glacial meltwater, and the canyon walls frame the water throughout. A technical briefing, wetsuit, and certified guide are included.

Day 6

A private transfer to Mendoza Airport (MDZ) for your domestic flight to Buenos Aires and onward international connections.

Southwind from the planning stages to delivery of the trip in Patagonia were faultless and I really love the little reminders sent for each separate stage and really appreciated the added bits around passport checking and border crossing paperwork. The whole team was super friendly, and for our trip with Fernando he was great company and knew where to stop for refreshments and a view! We would strongly recommend southwind, they go the extra mile on service and have a permanent smile. Thank you guys you were faultless.

I had a great experience with Southwind. They organized a tour for us to visit Monte Leon from El Calafate. Fernando & Laura organized the logistics and were very helpful. Martin accompanied us on the tour and doubled up as driver and tour guide, which was beyond our expectations. We saw a lot of wildlife en route, as well as in the park with Martin’s help. I highly recommend Southwind for your Patagonia experience.

Maria and her team looked after us so well. I would recommend them in a flash. It was 20 years since I had been to El Calafate so I didn't know what to expect. It had changed so much! Maria was helpful, honest, well priced and a pleasure to work with. You could not ask for more. We had the best time thanks to Maria and her organisation. Fernando was our driver to a tour and a delight. Punctual, knowledgeable and all round wonderful. Gracias!!

How to Customize This Itinerary

This itinerary is a foundation, not a fixed template — we shape it around what draws you to Mendoza in the first place.

  • Add a blending session at Renacer in Luján de Cuyo to create and bottle your own wine.

  • Add a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Uco Valley vineyards with Andean views.

  • Combine with Buenos Aires for tango, world-class restaurants, and the city's historic neighborhoods.

  • Add Iguazú Falls for the subtropical rainforest and both sides of the 275-waterfall system.

Every adjustment is shaped around what the trip means to you, then re-engineered with the same private logistics as the original route.
