Buenos Aires, Iguazú & Iberá Wetlands: Private Argentina Honeymoon

Buenos Aires, Iguazú & Iberá Wetlands: Private Argentina Honeymoon

Argentina
10 Days

Overview

This 10-day private Argentina honeymoon itinerary brings together three completely different sides of the country in one seamless journey — the culture and gastronomy of Buenos Aires, the subtropical rainforest of Iguazú Falls, and the extraordinary wildlife of the Iberá Wetlands. Connected by three carefully coordinated domestic flights, the itinerary combines boutique accommodations with private experiences, from exploring both sides of Iguazú Falls to boat safaris and horseback riding inside Iberá National Park. Every flight, private transfer, lodge arrangement, and guided excursion is coordinated in advance, allowing you to enjoy the journey at a relaxed pace.

  • Awasi Iguazú — A Private Villa in the Rainforest: Stay in an exclusive villa surrounded by Atlantic rainforest, with your own private guide and vehicle for personalized exploration of Iguazú Falls and the surrounding forest.

  • Rincón del Socorro — Inside the Iberá Rewilding Project: Spend three nights at one of Argentina's leading conservation lodges, where expert naturalist guides lead boat safaris, horseback rides, and walking excursions while sharing the story of Iberá's internationally recognized jaguar rewilding program.

  • Both Sides of Iguazú Falls: Explore the Argentine trails, Devil's Throat, and the Brazilian panoramic viewpoints with dedicated private guides who schedule each visit around the quietest hours of the day.

  • Expert Local Guides & Private Transfers: Dedicated local specialists accompany every stage of the journey, while private transfers and carefully coordinated domestic flights ensure seamless travel between Argentina's most remarkable natural regions.

  • Fully Customizable: This private Argentina honeymoon itinerary extends naturally to Patagonia for glacier landscapes, Mendoza for wine country, or Salta for Andean culture as part of a broader circuit.

Itinerary

Day 1

A private transfer from Ezeiza (EZE) or Aeroparque (AEP) to your hotel. Buenos Aires's Palermo and Recoleta neighborhoods are a deliberately quieter first night than the busier downtown core.

Day 2

A private city tour through San Telmo, La Boca and the Caminito, Recoleta and the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Perón is buried, Palermo's parks and boutique streets, and Puerto Madero. Stops at Plaza de Mayo, the Obelisk, and the Colón Theater. In the evening, a tango dinner show at one of Buenos Aires's historic milonga venues.

Day 3

A domestic flight north to Iguazú (IGR) — the shift from temperate Buenos Aires to subtropical humidity is immediate. A private transfer to your jungle lodge, with the rest of the day free.

Day 4

A full day inside Iguazú National Park on the Argentine side, starting with the Lower Circuit's close-up waterfall trails and the Upper Circuit's elevated perspective, ending at the Devil's Throat — the 150-meter U-shaped cataract where the river disappears into permanent spray. The Gran Aventura boat ride navigates directly to the base of the falls for a completely different scale of experience.

Day 5

A morning zip-line through the rainforest canopy above Iguazú, with aerial views of the jungle landscape. Alternatively, a private birdwatching morning with a naturalist guide — Iguazú's Atlantic rainforest is one of the most biodiverse bird habitats in South America. The afternoon is free for the lodge's pool, spa, or additional trails.

Day 6

The border crossing into Brazil is managed by your driver. Once across, the Brazilian side's single elevated walkway delivers the full 275-waterfall panoramic view — the wide-angle counterpart to yesterday's Argentine close-up experience.

Day 7

A private transfer and domestic flight from Iguazú to Posadas, then onward to Rincón del Socorro inside the Iberá Wetlands. The lodge sits inside a private reserve at the heart of one of the largest wetland ecosystems in South America — 13,000 km² of lagoons, marshes, and grasslands. The afternoon is free for a first lagoon walk or a rest by the water.

Day 8

A morning boat safari through the Iberá lagoons, with caimans, capybaras, marsh deer, and hundreds of bird species at close range. Your naturalist guide covers the rewilding project that has reintroduced jaguars to the wetlands over the past two decades. In the afternoon, a guided walk through the reserve's transition forest.

Day 9

A guided morning hike through the reserve's grasslands and gallery forest, followed by a horseback ride through open marshland in the afternoon — a traditional activity on the working estancias that surround the Iberá.

Day 10

A private transfer to Posadas Airport (PSS) for your domestic flight back to Buenos Aires and onward international connections.

Southwind from the planning stages to delivery of the trip in Patagonia were faultless and I really love the little reminders sent for each separate stage and really appreciated the added bits around passport checking and border crossing paperwork. The whole team was super friendly, and for our trip with Fernando he was great company and knew where to stop for refreshments and a view! We would strongly recommend southwind, they go the extra mile on service and have a permanent smile. Thank you guys you were faultless.

I had a great experience with Southwind. They organized a tour for us to visit Monte Leon from El Calafate. Fernando & Laura organized the logistics and were very helpful. Martin accompanied us on the tour and doubled up as driver and tour guide, which was beyond our expectations. We saw a lot of wildlife en route, as well as in the park with Martin’s help. I highly recommend Southwind for your Patagonia experience.

Maria and her team looked after us so well. I would recommend them in a flash. It was 20 years since I had been to El Calafate so I didn't know what to expect. It had changed so much! Maria was helpful, honest, well priced and a pleasure to work with. You could not ask for more. We had the best time thanks to Maria and her organisation. Fernando was our driver to a tour and a delight. Punctual, knowledgeable and all round wonderful. Gracias!!

How to Customize This Itinerary

This itinerary is a foundation, not a fixed template — we shape it around what draws you to Argentina in the first place.

  • Add extra nights in Iberá for photography, dedicated birdwatching, or the jaguar tracking excursion.

  • Include Salta and the Northwest for colonial architecture, high-altitude salt flats, and Calchaquí wine valleys.

  • Extend to Patagonia for Perito Moreno Glacier, El Chaltén trekking, and Ushuaia.

  • Add more Buenos Aires days for closed-door restaurants, an estancia day trip, and the city's art scene.

Every adjustment is shaped around what the trip means to you, then re-engineered with the same private logistics as the original route.
