Salta, Cafayate & Quebrada de Humahuaca: Northwest Argentina Private Tour

The route south crosses Quebrada de las Flechas, where erosion has carved sharp, arrow-shaped rock formations into the valley walls. Continuing through the village of Angastaco, arriving in Cafayate for check-in at Patios de Cafayate, a boutique hotel built inside the historic El Esteco winery (founded 1892), with an afternoon free to explore the cellars and vineyards.

A railway journey across the Puna on the Train to the Clouds, one of the highest railways in the world, crossing the 1920s viaducts designed by American engineer Richard Maury. The route reaches over 4,200 meters at La Polvorilla viaduct, with stops at Santa Rosa de Tastil, one of the largest pre-Columbian archaeological sites in northwestern Argentina.

North into Jujuy Province along the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage valley. Stops at Purmamarca for the Hill of Seven Colors; the Pucará de Tilcara, a pre-Inca hilltop fortification; Uquía's 17th-century church with its Cusqueña paintings of armed archangels — a series found almost nowhere else in South America; and the colonial town of Humahuaca itself.
